ITV's 'Tonight' Programme on Restorative Justice
Restorative Justice was in the spotlight as ITV’s Tonight Programme examined the impact that the practice can have between victims and offenders.
“Meeting the Enemy” showed how Restorative Solutions have worked with the victim of a domestic burglary, as part of Preston Crown Court’s pilot Pathfinder programme.
During the documentary there was an opportunity to see the stages of Restorative Justice, from the initial meeting with a victim by a restorative justice practitioner, to a meeting between the victim and the offender and then the impact that this has had.
The pilot pathfinder programme worked with the courts to identify cases that might benefit from Restorative Justice before an offender is sentenced by the court.
