Jacqueline McHugh from the Salus Restorative Justice service recently attended the Violence Reduction Summit in Maidstone, held by Matthew Scott, Police and Crime Commissioner for Kent.
Speakers at the summit included Victoria Atkins MP, Parliamentary Undersecretary for Crime, Safeguarding and Vulnerability, as well as a number of organisations including Salus, who discussed how they can work to reduce crime and violence throughout Kent.
Salus is an organisation dedicated to improving the lives of children, through providing services to help children and families develop social skills, educational achievement, and emotional well-being. Restorative Solutions works in partnership with Salus to provide restorative justice in Kent, offering the chance for victims and offenders to come together to discuss how to repair the harm that has been caused.
RJ can be utilised in a variety of situations, whether in the context of a crime where the parties involved are a victim and offender, or when dealing with young people in a situation such as bullying.
