The festive period is one of joy and celebration, but for those who have been affected by crime, it can be an incredibly stressful and difficult time. With so much going on, many victims find that they struggle with increased symptoms of anxiety and depression as a result of what they’ve been through.
Restorative Justice gives victims the opportunity to explore the thoughts and feelings weighing on their minds and find closure. Whether the crime was recent or took place years ago, Restorative Justice provides a safe, mediated environment for victims and offenders to communicate and discuss the crime.
The process is entirely voluntary and aims to help both victim and offender put the crime behind them and move on. It can be an incredibly powerful experience for the victim, allowing them to take back control, ask questions of the offender and express how their actions have impacted their life.
It’s free to take part in Restorative Justice and the communication can happen directly (face to face) or indirectly (through phone calls, letters, etc.). As the end of another year draws close, it’s a great opportunity for a fresh start and Restorative Justice provides a safe way to do so.
If you have been affected by crime and feel that Restorative Justice could be for you, get in touch today.
We’d love to talk to you about how we can find a solution for you.
