HMIP Praise Restorative Solutions and Approaches at HMP Peterborough

In a recent inspection at HMP Peterborough women's prison, Her Majesty's Inspector of Prisons has praised Restorative Solutions' innovative programme to embed restorative approaches in prisons to resolve conflict.

HMP Peterborough is the only prison in the country to run as a men's prison and also a separate women's prison. RS has worked on both sides of the establishment, as well as HMP Buckley Hall in the north west, to develop the use of a whole prison restorative approach to conflict. In November 2016 the MoJ's white paper on Prison Safety and Reform highlighted the Restorative Prison initiative at HMP Buckley Hall to encourage governors to take a restorative approach when dealing with low level violence in their establishments.
